The Majesty of Trees
There is a serene and settled majesty in woodland scenery that enters the soul and delights and elevates it, and fills it with noble inclinations.
As the leaves of trees are said to absorb all noxious qualities of the air and to breathe forth a purer atmosphere, so it seems to me as if they drew from us all sordid and angry passions, and breathed forth peace and philanthropy.
by Washington Irving
Trees have a way of talking to us… oh, not in so many words. But they tell us things just the same – if we listen and observe and are still. A forest can be both cathedral and classroom to the receptive, and a single tree can furnish enough food for thought for the lifetime of man. (Esther Baldwin York)
